Animal
Care Malta is an
officially registered voluntary organization, dedicated to the welfare of the many stray
cats in and around Mellieha, a town in the north of Malta.
Our organization is completely dependent on volunteers who feed the many colonies every day. One of the aims of Animal Care Malta is to collect catfood and money to help the feeders so the less fortunate cats can eat every day. There is no assistance from the government so we rely on donations from sponsors. The most important issue is to sterilize all the cats. We catch the cats in the colonies and take them to the vet to neuter them. We provide them aftercare and keep the males 3 days and the females 7-10 days for recovery in our shelter. Our aftercare during recovery is high standard and we are very proud of our quality-policy! No mass-neutering but individual attention and we try to give them the least stress possible. No waiting in traps or cages: we take them straight away to the vet and in no time they're neutered and by the time they wake up, they are in a cosy, clean place and hardly know what happened. A lot of kittens are found with severe eye-infections and if they’re not treated with antibiotics and eye-oinment they will end up blind so we catch them and take them to our shelter. When they are completely healthy, we try to find good homes for them, but most of them stay with us for ever.... Please donate to us to feed and neuter them and give them medical attention! |
